Back From a Layoff

I haven’t been writing on either of my blogs much, but I am back. I have been trying to be less politically active plus I have been very busy on campus at USI. I am currently a 3.85 gpa elementary education major and really enjoying being a “non-traditional” student at a medium size four year school. I have always enjoyed school, but I have found myself very energized as of late and I have really enjoyed the professors and staff at this school. It is a real value for the cost of tuition compared to many other schools I have attended.

What has really brought me out of my self imposed silence is the current state of politics in this country. I have been amazed at how the GOP has been allowed to flat out lie and how that have benefited from not doing their jobs in congress and just blocking everything that is presented. Instead of what usually happens in functioning democracies and trying to find middle ground and fixing the great problems we have. Also the short memory everyone has, all these problems stem from the last eight years to the last two decades which the Republicans have had power most of the time. They led us into the ditch and the current depression, oops I mean recession we are in. How do they get a pass on this? Are the American people that stupid? I have to say yes after watching them starting to be duped by the same party again.

I was happy to see my President grow a set the other day. I really enjoyed the question session between President Obama and the GOP House Caucus. He did what I have wanted him to do this whole year; go right after them and their talking point lies. Show the country that they have no substantive ideas and are just rock throwers while in the minority instead of working for compromise to fix this countries problems.  It has just been gross and I was so happy when he handed them their collective asses in that question and answer session broadcast live to the American public. This should be done every year if not every quarter, but it was a historic meeting and a historic ass kicking that the President handed the GOP House members. He took their talking points or lies and debunked them one by one and faced down his less intelligent hosts. It was a breathe of fresh air and I hope this is a sign of our President’s new demeanor for the coming year.

Joe Wilson Another Example of How Wrong the “Right” is!

First lets talk about the responsibility of elected officials; being an elected official make you a role model by default. Your represent your constituents and should be a role model for the children of the United States and any others that may be observing. They should show a dignity when debating issues and a dignity for the office they have been honored to hold. They should be held to the highest standards of conduct, not only because they have the honor of serving in our great system, but also because by default they represent our great nation as well. This being said the Congress (especially during a joint session being broadcast nationally) should be show the respect it deserves and has earned over the many years it has served this great nation and its people, just like the respect shown in court rooms, historical places, museums,  and dare I say churches and other places of worship.  We have enough bad role models in this media centric society without U.S. representatives showing a lack of respect for the highest offices of the land.

This leads me to the outrageous actions Joe Wilson during Wednesday nights Presidential address to a joint session of Congress, it was a new low even for a politician from the much maligned state of South Carolina.  Not only are they having to deal with the shame of a governor that disrespected his office, the people of South Carolina, and his wife by cheating and then lying about it to them and his staff; they no have the dishonor of having the first representative to show his lack of decorum and respect by shouting “You lie” during the President’s speech. I was in shock when I heard this shouted.  I thought I had heard it wrong and then at the end when I say the replay of the event I was thoroughly disgusted by his actions. I work with children and it is hard to find role models in the world today, and what will they say when you ask them to respect others around them; Representative Joe Wilson doesn’t have to and is being held up as a hero by the “right” wing so why should I.

Another embarrassing thing came to light when I was researching the reactions to this event in the media. While reading an article in the Telegraph (an English media outlet) I was taken by surprise that a country that has very colourful discourse in its legislative arm doesn’t allow words such as liar to be screamed on its floor. The House of Commons bans words like liar, blackguard, guttersnipe and, oddly, stool pigeon, if these words are utter you are ask to leave or are removed. Maybe we should take a page from our allies across the Atlantic and make this a rule for our Congress.  I know many have said he has apologized and we should move on, but truly if you have heard anything this man has said yesterday and today you would realize his apology is as hollow as his head seems to be.  He must be censured so this is not copied by other headline grabbing wannabes like Wilson.  Otherwise there will be utter chaos on the floor of the House and the Senate.
A few things to remember about this South Carolinian Representative; first he fought to keep the rebel flag on display on the South Carolina State House (even though they knew what that flag is a symbol of to most the people of the U.S. and the world – RACISM). Second this man accused another representative of being anti-America because he doubted the existence of WMD’s during the run-up to the Iraqi war (later we found out this man was right along with many of us that felt the WMD argument was a red herring to invade), once getting pressure he issued a half hearted apology, all the while bad mouthing the man to right wing fringe groups. Third he berated and called Essie Mae Washington-Williams a liar when she let it be known she was the illegitimate child of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strom_Thurmond. Again it was proven that she was telling the truth and Thurmond’s family even came out and accepted she was his child. Again Wilson had to eat crow and apologize and keep with his M.O. he again talked under his breath about the motives of this woman and how she should have kept it to her self to preserve Strom’s memory (not worried about her feelings only the memory of a very racist and radical right fringe senator memory, even though he fathered her while married to another woman). Lastly he supported and voted for the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 which gave health care to illegal aliens, but didn’t care about this because it was created by a white Republican President. You can check this bill and will see that Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrant. Wilson never uttered one word, nor did his republican colleagues, because of who put this bill forward. This is enough proof for me to say that this man is a hypocrite and a liar.
Rob Miller is the democratic opposition for Wilson’s seat in 2010. He has raised as of 09/10/2009 $1.5 million and hopes to unseat the disrespectful and dishonest Wilson and I urge anyone that is outraged by Wilson’s behavior to make a donation to Miller’s campaign.

C Street is a Dead End

C Street is also a dead end in DC to a couple of careers.....

I couldn’t resist taking this shot when I saw it. I was listening to the Rachel Maddow pod cast in my car while I was benching some trains at the howell train yard when I past this sign. I began to chuckle to myself and turned around to get this shot.
The reason this works is because of the pseudo “Christian” secret society called the “Family”. It consists of a group of very conservative and very rich and very powerful men. They have an ultra conservative view point on the world and feel they have been anointed by God (like King David) to be leaders and to further their “christian” conservative ideals.
They also believe in the bond of secrecy (to me this is the beginning of something anti-christ, secrecy, money, and power don’t mix) within organization, also the “Family”‘s agenda comes before any other. A very scary situation.
Unfortunately for them and fortunately for everyone else they have had a lot of publicity lately. Both Senator Ensign (R-Nevada) and Governor Sanford (R-South Carolina) have been publicly humiliated by extra marital affairs. The problem for the Family is that both men have lived in the house at C Street and both admitted to getting advised while the affairs were happening. In fact in Ensign’s case $94,000 was given to his mistress’ husband (hush money) and her son was given a post in the Republican parties national committee. Sanford also admitted to getting counseling early on in his affair (it didn’t end for a while) and getting advice on how to handle this publicly.
This has brought a much needed look into this kinda scary secret organization. I personally don’t understand the need for secrecy if its a true Christian organization with nothing to hide, but thats just me.

How Can a Quitter Have a Future?

I know I am a bit late on this Sarah Palin quitting thing, but its taken me this long to pick up my jaw and translate the transcript of her speech from nutty to proper english [for Palin supporters its not just the language of England, we speak English in America too, not American ]. I don’t understand how Republicans can still think this person is a viable candidate. If she can’t handle governing Alaska, how the hell could she handle being in the White House? Is the Republican party that devoid of leadership, talent, and/or intelligence? That’s a rhetorical question, we all know they are. Anyway if you haven’t seen it [been on the moon or in a coma or don't watch t.v. or follow politics or tabloids] here is the speech video/written transcript.
Enjoy and try not to think..you need to take you brain out for this one. Oh, and we all know the real truth, she is going to cash in, screw the commitment she made to the Alaskan voters that put her in. What a role model she is [sic]. That is sarcasm [again so the Palin supporters would know ].

A New Top Hypocrite

Gov. Sanford has just added his name to my top GOP hypocrite list. He lied to his staff about his trip to the Appalachian Trail and went to Argentina to have a “little fun”-. Now that the Gov’s political boat is on fire the “rats” are jumping of the ship. Its time that Ensign and Sanford both resign. In fact the whole GOP should, but that won’t happen. They need to quit saying how much that hold marriage between a man and a woman as sacred, because it is obvious they don’t. So what high ground do that have to stand on…NONE. This party is becoming a bigger and bigger joke!! Well my list on my last blog post is about to get longer when I update it..Sanford will have a spot of infamy on it!!

Another point people need to think about.. was he taking care of S.C. business and was he using S.C. money to do his philandering……makes you say hmmmmm!

A True Hypocrite

We have a new candidate for the hypocrite of the year!! Its Senator John Ensign (R-Nevada). He was at the lead calling for the resignation of President Clinton (D) when he had his moment of infidelity and pounced on Senator Larry Craig’s Q(R-Idaho) indiscretions in a Minnesota airport bathroom. Senator Ensign (hopefully soon to be former senator ensign) has admitted to having a nine month affair.  Both sides of the aisle have had their members pull some major dirty moves, but the “family values”, “Christian coalition”, and “Moral Majority” “Right” take the cake on this.  They judge people on lifestyle, tell people what they can and can’t do, and judge them on it, yet they do it themselves. Homophobes, anti-abortionists, and the list goes on and on; well lets look at some of the recent big hypocrites on the “Right”:

☞Bob Barr (R-former federal prosecutor and a former member of the United States House of Representatives.[7] He represented Georgia’s 7th congressional district as a Republican from 1995 to 2003) This man sponsored the homophobic Defense of Marriage Act saying this when it was presented -”The flames of hedonism, the flames of narcissism, the flames of self-centered morality are licking at the very foundation of our society, the family unit.” Well Mr. Morals has been married three times and actually paid for his second wife to get an abortion (he was also having an affair during the marriage to her). He has been forced to pay back child support and photographs from his first inaugural party have have his wife licking whip cream off strippers breast. A true champion of “family values” and morals!! Oh, he also gave the 1998 keynote speech at the overtly racists and bigoted CCC or the Council of Conservative Citizens.
Of course I am not surprised that a person the the extreme right has ties to a racists organization and feels they are above the laws and morals they push!!
☞Louis Beres – (R-former chairman of the Christian Coalition of Oregon) Everyone knows that the “Christian” Coalition in any state is just a cover for right wing extremism and no doubt the one in Oregon is no different, but that is off the subject. He has been investigated and all three of his daughters accuse him of molestation the whole time they lived in his home. They want you to have morals, but they don’t pertain to them-(do as I say, not as I do I guess is his motto!!)/
☞Parker J. Bena (R- a Republican activist and one of last year’s presidential electors for Virginia) This great right winger was recently arraigned for possession of child pornography and lying to the FBI. He tried to say it came in an unsolicited email (yeah right), but the authorities found he had download them himself from different web sites. It seems child pornography is popular with right wingers..here is a list of some other “family value” champions that indulge in this crime against the innocent!!
☞Randal David Ankeney (R-Republican activist) This guy hasn’t been arrested or investigated once but twice!! Here are links to the first and second arrests, the stories are on the local ABC website. He attacked a thirteen year old first, then an older woman next.
☞ John Bolton (R- neocon appointee of W to the U.N.) He has been a very strong neocon pushing for preemptive wars and other shady dealings listed on this site. Besides this lack of value for human life (our troops lives and the lives of non-Americans) he has been accused of some juicy things by his ex-wife. Christina Bolton says John forced her to engage in group sex with him on many occasions, along with other unsavory public sexual acts. He has also be SEEN in the swingers club “Plato’s Retreat” engaging in group sex. His former wife said he forced her to preform in this acts while married to him.
☞Joe Scarborough (R- 1995 to 2001 as a Republican from the 1st district of Florida and host of “Morning Joe” on MSNBC) The conservative talk show host of “Morning Joe”, when he was a Rep. for the 1st district in Florida, resigned suddenly to spend more time with his family. Soon after his resignation allegations surfaced that he was having an affair with an intern. Soon after this an intern (Lori Klausutis) was found dead in his office. This is the same intern that he was supposedly having an affair with while serving as a representative. Also odd was the medical examiner in the case, this man was barred from practicing medicine in two states (Missouri-for falsifying medical records in an autopsy and in Florida for similar reasons). He found that Ms. Klausutis death was because of an accident, he was later ask why he gave conflicting reports on her injuries and he responded -”The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury.” Here is a link to a recent interesting clip of Rachal Maddow and Joe having a tussle and this subject is broached. Also another interesting website on the death of Ms. Klausutis that Killer Joe’s attorneys sent a “cease and desist” letter.
☞George Roche III (R-president of Hillsdale College [a fringe right wing college]) Old Mr. Roche III, the conservative tyrant that held his throne over the conservative Hillside College, had a nineteen year affair with his daughter-in-law Lissa Roche, wife of his son George Roche IV. This eventually led to a family tragedy of Lissa committing suicide after admitting to the affair. Of course after time to compose himself, Roche III denied it, but most realize its true. Even the conservative website the “National Review” had to admit it…

Anti-Abortionists and Anti-Choice People are Homegrown Terrorists

These people should be treated as terrorist and every law abiding citizen should condemn anyone that would use violence to interfere with lawful actions. Women should have the right to decide wether or not to have children. These nuts want to take away that right. They are even protesting birth control pills now. These people should be ostracized as the lunatics they are!! How ignorant and gross these people are!! Here is the Department of Justice press release of their look into the murder of Dr. Tiller and to see how many people may be involved in it!!
Here is the nutty Facebook page for the Pill Kills morons. What a bunch of flakes and they are just a step away from zealot violence as well!! These morons are spreading lies and half truths about the pill. The pill allowed a woman to make a choice on her own to control pregnancy. This people are just ludicrous!!

 

They Are Watching You!!!!

The right and the GOP are back to their old trick (actually they never stopped).  The only way their ideas hold up is if people are scared and we are perpetually at war.  I read news and opinions from many different sources and read writers that span the far left, the middle, to the far right and I’m convinced the right hates America and wants to destroy it.  If you listen to the rhetoric coming out of the true voices of the right like the Drugster (rush) and the Nut (palin) they are pushing the politics of fear as hard as they can.  Rush is trying to make people think that our President, Pres. Obama (I love saying that, still hasn’t gotten old), has complete control of the banks and through them will have control of the media (esp. TV and radio).  I have heard some crazy stuff come out of the Drugster’s mouth but here lately he has gone off the deep end.  His conspiracy theory has so many holes in it and is so ridiculous its not even worth giving a second thought.  Palin is taking his conspiracy theory and trying to say that Pres. Obama will take over states and then “Their MINDS” ooooaaahahhhaaha!! What a joke these people are.  

I wouldn’t even mention them, but many people that can’t think for themselves let these people think for them.  Its absolutely scary.  I am convinced that they will not be happy until they scare these weak minded people into violence.  Actually they already have.  O’Rielly and schlock jock Glen “I’ll cry for you” Beck scared a boy in Ohio into thinking that the government was going to take his guns and he ended up killing a few police officers and his mother.  He was convinced after listening the the know nothing Beck that the government was going to take his guns and he decided to strike first, how scary is that.  I am personally all for severe gun control.  How many people would he have hurt if he didn’t have access to fire arms? Not many is the answer. 

The next recent example is Dr. Tiller in Kansas. He was demonized my right wing extremists talkers like O’rielly and Ann “I make crank heads look good” Coulter. Well look what happened; another one of their right wing nut foot soldiers took the orders and assassinated this man in front of his family at the doors of his church.  Neither one would apologize or take responsibility for their roles in this man’s death. They will be one day and neither will be able to talk their way out of it because we all no matter your view of a supreme being will have to answer (an yes I have quite a bit myself, but not blood) for the deeds we have done.  The power of speech for good and evil has been shown in these two examples, the use of it for evil and all of these people are working for evil. They work for guns, greed, intolerance, and murder and all should be called out for it.  I understand being conservative, but none of these wannabes could hold a candle to the great conservative thinkers like Barry Goldwater or William F. Buckley.  These people have pulled conservatism into the gutter, this is the reason its on such a decline and the GOP has become a home for the intolerant and religious zealots that would have a Christian theocracy instead of a Democracy.  This is why its become a party of the deep south and nowhere else. As long as it’s leaders are Rush/Newt/Cheney or Palin, O’Rielly, Beck, and Coulter it will become smaller and smaller and more fringe and radical.

I am a person that leans toward the left, but there is a need for sane voices from all sides. We are lacking a sane voice from the right now.  If you show yourself to be sane you are pushed out of the party right now. Look how General Colin Powell has been treated as of late.  A true hero and an incredible personal story and this man is treated horrible by his own party, they should be ashamed and just makes me see how racists they truly are.  Its time for a new conservative party, one where true compassionate conservatism has a home, one that is not extreme and intolerant.  Leave the fringe in the Republican party and it can go the way of the Whig party, extinct. Of course we will have to call it something else because they don’t believe in science or evolution.  

Last point….watch out they are watching you!!!!

Dick Cheney Thinks Your Stupid

This man is a compulsive liar or thinks you are stupid. It is amazing at how much his story has changed since only 2001. How many people can he blame for his actions and lack of actions as well. He blames the CIA for 9/11 and the “faulty” intelligence he used to sell the Iraq war. He and this felon friend “Scooter” went as far to out a CIA operative when they wouldn’t play their game.

Now the man is acting like he is their best friend and number one defender. After blaming them for ever problem his inept administration had. This man knows no bounds and must really think we are all idiots and can’t remember the other lies he has told. Maybe he thinks if he says it enough it will be true. One thing I know this man is a liar and has the blood of thousands on his hands. He is an evil man and a self serving ideologue that history will hold accountable and will be seen as the evil man he is.

Remember, if you waste your time listening to him, Cheney thinks your stupid!!
